Bicycle, peacock, and jungle: New Quilt projects in the works!

The cold weather in Arkansas has set in and we are naturally forced to spend more time inside; which leads to more sewing!

This beautiful bicycle will be red with black tires and appliqued onto a tea-dyed newspaper print fabric. And it all will be machine quilted into a unique bicycle Quilt. Red bicycle quilt is an Ashlee original design.
Our last post was about a Hedgehog embroidery quilt (which sold on etsy in 4 days). The next embroidery based quilt is shown in the below picture. Peacocks are such unique and one of the second up-coming popular themes for baby nurseries. This little quilt should be listed on etsy before Thanksgiving! We've laid out the fabric choices of orange, off-white, tan and a peacock plume inspired fabric.

The final project is a jungle themed quilt using some brightly colored Birch Organic fabric. The layout for this baby quilt will be based on a 2 1/2 inch strips. Don't be fooled by the simple design, this baby quilt is sure to draw plenty of Ahhhhs and Oooohs.

New Baby Quilt: Hedgehog, mushroom, and woodland theme. What's hot for nurseries!

We have discovered what's hot for nurseries. Owls are OUT and hedgehogs are in! Of course I can see why: They are so cotton-pickin' adorable. The one we have featured here is brown with a dark red body and blue-green eyes, and all around him are mushrooms. The hedgehog is an embroidery design by Mammy. We paired the hedgehog embroidery with some vintage-like mushroom fabric, soft yellow, mint green and a splash of dark red (for contrast). We love this new little guy and can't wait to see what else this season holds for CreatedbyMammy!

CreatedbyMammy is featured in a Treasury on etsy. It's a great way to get more exposure on the site. Check out the link below!

First blog, first post, first year for etsy site

Hello everyone! My name is Ashlee and I'm so excited to begin this journey of blogging here. I hope we all enjoy the adventure. This will be my first blog and first blog post And it all coincides with my first etsy site (createdbymammy) and it's first year.
Alright, a little background; I am a stay-at-home mom of 3. My daughter was born last November and after her birth I became really interested in sewing! Which just so happened to be a great thing; because my mom (Mammy) is an awesome seamstress and quilter and she was hoping I would learn to sew as well!
Long story short we started working together: exchanging ideas, expanding skill set and before you know it we had a stack of quilts to the ceiling and we decided to open an etsy shop so that we could keep creating and diminish that stack of quilts.
I plan to use this space and blog to describe my ideas for quilts, share ideas for projects, and hopefully inspire others to get crafty (and maybe brag a little at my own creativeness) ;)
