Modern homemade baby quilts... in progress

Just an update; but, the quilts I listed back in January (peacock, bicycle, and jungle) have sold off of our Etsy site https://www.etsy.com/shop/createdbymammy. So a little wahoo there!

But today's post is about the newest quilts in progress. First a modern Bear. I was inspired for this one by the triangle quilts and my spring break trip to the Memphis zoo where we saw lots of bears and awesome grizzles.
The bear quilt was pretty simple to make. First I made bear silhouette ~4x5 inches on paper then I projected that image onto a really big piece of paper taped to the wall. (I projected it by using a flashlight.) When it was projected I carefully traced the image onto the paper, then I cut that image out, it was really large like 30 inches long or something.

The next step was to make brown triangles and to sew them into like 3 rows. Then it was easy to just pin the paper bear image over the triangle rows and cut the image of the bear out. Appliqued him to some white fabric ~ 1yard 1/2 and now he is ready for batting and quilting. I just need to go purchase the backing fabric. We've chosen solid brown to match the bear and keep him monochromatic. The final quilt should finish around 43 square. Daniel (my husband) thinks the bear needs an eye; but I disagree.

Second quilt in the middle of being quilted. Also inspired by animals at the zoo.

These 3 little guys were pretty simple to make but painstakingly assembled thru the process of applique. I think they are adorable; but just need bowties or hairbows for some color. They seem a little bland to me.
